The Chapel Street Gospel Choir is performing at Christ Church, Castlebar, next Sunday at 4 p.m.

A special Christmas for Mayo's Chapel Street Gospel Choir

Like so many of us, the members of Chapel Street Gospel Choir have experienced so much over the past few years: Covid, lockdowns, births, deaths and marriages and so much in between.

They have not, however, performed for Christmas in some time. This year will be different.

After their memorable and emotional performance for the memorial event for the Tuam babies, Chapel Street Gospel Choir director Kathy Fahey felt that renewing the choir’s long-established connection with Christmas was crucial.

She was correct in her assertion and such has been the interest in the choir performing for Christmas, that the show in Christ Church on the Mall in Castlebar was sold out within 24 hours, prompting a second, earlier show to be confirmed.

That takes place on Sunday next, December 18, at Christ Church, Castlebar, at 4 p.m.

For many fans of the choir, Christmas has not been the same without their Christmas performances which have for many years been an important date on the festive musical calendar in the county.

As always, an eclectic mix of Christmas songs is promised, combined with an energetic performance that is synonymous with Chapel Street Gospel Choir.
