Council plans for six new homes in south Mayo town welcomed

COUNCIL plans to develop six housing units at Mount Street in Claremorris have been welcomed.

A Part 8 planning application was approved by elected members at their monthly municipal district (MD) meeting.

Councillor Damien Ryan said the Claremorris-Swinford MD was probably the most proactive in progressing Part 8 applications and also CPOs to remove dereliction – three CPOs have been finalised recently.

However, he felt they needed to 'up the ante' even more to deliver housing and tackle dereliction and vacant sites.

Claremorris-based Councillor Tom Connolly felt the Mount Street proposal was a good idea that would tidy up the site.

No one had objected to it and he was happy to propose it be adopted.
