Family appeal to find missing man last seen in Mayo

THE family of a missing Irish man last seen in Westport a week ago has urged the public across the west of Ireland to help find their son and brother.

Darryl Wade (31) is believed to have left his native Downpatrick in Co. Down and travelled to Westport on December 9 with friends.

He was last seen leaving a property in the Cluain Padraig/Quay Road area of Westport early in the morning of Saturday, December 10, just over a week ago.

Darryl had been visiting friends in Galway and his parents and brother have extended the appeal to the county to help them find Darryl safe and well.

The family are appealing through gardaí and the PSNI to local residents of Westport, especially those in the Cluain Padraig/Quay Road area, to check their gardens, outbuildings and anywhere else Darryl may have sought shelter.

Appealing for any help or information on Darryl, his mother, Maria McConvey, said: “Darryl is a great young fella, this is so unlike him, and not his normal behaviour at all. Darryl is normally in contact with someone in the family every day, so it is extremely unusual for him not to be in touch.

“Our family are so concerned, and we want Darryl home, safe and well. We have been devastated since Darryl went missing. We just want him to make contact and let us know he is okay.

“We hope that people reading this will help us with the search and reunite him with his family in time for Christmas.”

Darryl is described as approximately 5' 8'' in height, of slim build, with short, dirty-fair hair and a short beard. He was last seen wearing a green Parker coat and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Darryl has a scar on the back of his head as well as his name tattooed on his back and tribal-style tattoos on his right arm.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact the gardaí or PSNI.
