Mayo Youth Diversion Projects receive €64,000 funding

Two Mayo TDs have welcomed the announcement that two Mayo Youth Diversion Projects will receive funding of over €46,000.

YDP’s engage with young people through a range of supports, including education, training and employment support, social enterprise initiatives, as well as personal development and supports such as mentoring, and personal development activities.

Deputy Alan Dillon said the North Connacht Youth Services in Ballina will receive €44,000 while the North Connacht Youth Services, based in Castlebar, will receive €2,190.

He explained: ‘This funding will go towards assisting with renovations to premises, transport and IT equipment to enhance the activities and services offered to young people they work with.”

“I have seen first-hand the positive impact these projects have on the young people they welcome through their doors and the wider community in which they are based."

Deputy Michael Ring has also welcomed the funding.

"This money will be of direct benefit to the young people the projects work with in ensuring greater access to training and education facilities and activities that promote pro-social behaviour.

"The Youth Diversion Projects have a hugely positive impact on young people and the wider communities where they are based,” he added.
