Death of former Mayo priest, Fr. Michael Goaley

The death has taken place of Very Reverend Fr. Michael Goaley, Glenamaddy, and formerly of Annaghdown, Co. Galway.

In his 92nd year, he died peacefully at University Hospital Galway surrounded by his loving nieces and nephews.

The deceased is fondly remembered in the parish of Castlebar where he served with a spirit of immense kindness and commitment.

The Tuam Archdiocese paid tribute to the retired Parish Priest of Glenmaddy, asking people to remember him in their prayers.

He was a former chairman of Glenamaddy Day Care Centre and was involved in the running of the facility for many years.

Predeceased by his parents John and Katie, brothers Denis, Martin and John Joe, sisters Mary (Forde), Kathleen (Heneghan) and Nora (Ward), he is deeply regretted by his loving brother Francis, sister-in-law Minnie, his loyal housekeeper of 54 years, Joy Maye, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, former parishioners, neighbours, friends, Archbishop Francis Duffy, retired Archbishop Michael Neary and his fellow priests of the Archdiocese of Tuam, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Reposing at St. Patrick's Church, Glenamaddy, on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Requiem Mass takes place on Monday at 11 a.m. with afterwards in Annaghdown Cemetery, arriving at 2.45 p.m. approximately.
