High profile managerial appointments at east Mayo clubs

Two soccer clubs from east Mayo have made big managerial appointments ahead of the 2023 CastleCourt Hotel Premier League season next month.

Swinford have appointed Mark Beattie as head coach, succeeding Christopher MacHale-Roe in the role. Beattie recently departed as manager of Ballina Town, who in his tenure finished runners-up twice in the Super League to Ballyheane and won the Westaro Cup last season after beating Westport United in the final.

He is also no stranger to the Premier League, guiding Ballina Town B to the title in 2019 and going unbeaten though their league campaign in the same year Swinford finished runners-up.

Ballyhaunis Town will be looking to bounce back up to the Super League at the first time of asking and have appointed Karl Lyons as the senior team manager for the 2023 season.

Karl is no stranger to Ballyhaunis Town as he was heavily involved when the club was reformed back in 2010, playing a big part on the field during the early success coming through the divisions.

Karl will have a team with him that is made up of coach Marcin Balik-Nowak and assistants Gerry Gallagher and Niall Richardson.
