Coen to captain Mayo in FBD League final against Roscommon
Mayo GAA senior football manager Kevin McStay has made six changes to his side for the FBD Connacht GAA League final against Roscommon on Friday evening.
Colm Reape from Knockmore replaces Rory Byrne in goal, Enda Hession from Garrymore GAA comes into the full-back line in place of Sam Callinan, with Conor Loftus from Crossmolina Deel Rovers returning to centre-back in place of Fenton Kelly.
Ballintubber's Diamuid O'Connor gets his first start of the year at midfield, replacing Matthew Ruane, with two further changes from the side that defeated Galway in the semi-final in attack. Ryan O'Donoghue starts in the corner in place of Paul Towey, with Conor McStay coming into the team at full-forward instead of James Carr.
McStay was named to play last week but was replaced by Castlebar Mitchels youngster Bob Tuohy, who keeps his position at centre-forward for the final.
Stephen Coen will captain the side. The game will be played in the University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome in Bekan, throwing in at 7.30 p.m., and will be broadcast live on TG4 Sport and Midwest Radio, with regular updates across all Mayo GAA social media platforms.
Mayo last won the FBD Connacht GAA League final in 2012, with Alan Dillon as captain on that occasion.
The Mayo starting 15 is as follows: Colm Reape; Jack Coyne, Rory Brickenden, Enda Hession; Stephen Coen, Conor Loftus, Donnacha McHugh; Jordan Flynn, Diarmuid O'Connor; Fionn McDonagh, Bob Tuohy, Bryan Walsh; Aiden Orme, Conor McStay, Ryan O'Donoghue.
