Mayo cemetery vandalism is sad and disappointing

SAD, outrageous, disappointing and disgraceful.

That was my immediate reaction over several acts of blackguardism which have occurred in Mayo in recent weeks.

It is difficult to understand why anyone should go into a cemetery in the dark of night and do considerable damage to headstones.

This recently happened in a cemetery a few miles outside Castlebar.

There are many splendid community groups in Mayo which do wonderful work on a voluntary basis. It is a pity then that mindless thugs should attempt to spoil our image with their vandalism.

Time they were taught a lesson.

A lesson they will never forget.
