John Prine Appreciation Night at Irish folk music school
THE Appreciation Society is currently in its second season of unique music performances held at the Irish Folk Music school in Glenisland, Castlebar.
Each month, the music teachers will present their favourite songs of their favourite recording artists in their own style with a variety of traditional instruments.
Up next on Saturday, February 4, is the late great John Prine. Hugely popular in Ireland having lived in Galway in his later life, John Prine is celebrated not only among fans but also lauded by his peers with the likes of Bob Dylan, Kriss Kristofferson and Johnny Cash singling him out for praise.
As usual this is an alcohol free event with freshly ground coffee and tea served on arrival. The doors open at 7:30 and the gig starts at 8 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early for a look around the school and welcome to have a go at the variety of instruments on show.
The John Prine Appreciation Society is a one night only event with limited tickets are available from www.eventbrite.ie
