Old Mayo street is attracting welcome investment

A residential property in Castlebar that had fallen into dereliction in recent years is set to receive a major facelift.

Collins Auctioneers, Castle Street, Castlebar, confirmed the sale of the building located at Newtown, beside the Mayo College of Further Education.

The purchaser has plans to renovate the house and prime site, located within a short walk of the town centre.

Four new apartments have already been put in place at a property at an adjoining site while planning permission is in place for the construction of a number of new homes at the corner of Newtown and Riverside/Marian Row.

All of the works, when completed, will transform the area in a very positive manner as investors see the value of developing urban sites.

A new school building for Mayo College for Further Education is also in the pipeline for Newtown while an extension to a playschool at the location was completed in recent months.
