February opening earmarked for section of new N5 in Mayo

THE Castlebar section of the new N5 could open in February.

The only thing holding it up is signage.

Councillor Cyril Burke asked at a Castlebar Municipal District meeting if the section between the Turlough and Derrylea roundabouts will open in February.

He was told potentially yes, with the only delay being with signage.

The date for substantial completion of the entire N5 project is April 18, though that could extend into late April or early May.
