Mayo community heartbroken over death of popular young woman

A Mayo community is grieving the tragic death of a popular young woman.

Twenty-two-year-old Lauren Padden, Shanahee, and formerly of Corclough West, Belmullet, lost her life in a road traffic accident last Friday night.

Her passing has led to an outpouring of sorrow and grief across the entire Erris region.

Many warm tributes are being paid across social media to Lauren, a university student.

"She was such a beautiful person with a beautiful personality. She will be dearly missed," one stated.

"Lauren was such a lovely a pleasant lady who always had a smile on her face," another said.

She was beloved and adored daughter of Martin and Shelley Padden and cherished sister of Dara and Paddy.

Lauren will also be sadly missed by her grandfather Paddy Padden (Shanahee, Belmullet) and grandparents Cubbie (Qubbie) and Marie Elliot (Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh), aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many, many friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their immeasurable loss.

Lauren was predeceased by her recently deceased grandmother Ann and her aunties Maria and Collette.

Remains reposing at the family home in Shanahee (Eircode – F26 Y710) on Monday from 3 o'clock until 8 o'clock and on Tuesday from 3 o'clock until 8 o'clock.

Funeral will arrive at the Church of the Holy Family, Carne, Belmullet, on Wednesday afternoon for Funeral Mass at 2 o'clock, followed by burial in Emlybeg Cemetery.

House will remain strictly private for family members on Sunday evening and Wednesday morning and afternoon.
