See St. Brigid in willow at Mayo's Museum of Country Life

AS we celebrate St. Brigid's Day, you can now visit the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, Turlough, Castlebar, to see a striking new sculpture inspired by the saint.

Crafted from willow by artists Aidan Crotty and Naomi Rogers, the large outdoor artwork was commissioned by the museum to celebrate the feast day of St. Brigid on February 1.

St. Brigid's Day was an important seasonal marker for our rural ancestors, which signalled the onset of spring in the traditional Irish calendar.

The artwork is located just next to Turlough Park House, overlooking the Victorian terraces and man-made lake.
