Four changes for Mayo hurling team as round two of the league looms

Mayo GAA joint hurling managers Dave McConn and Tom Phillips have made four changes to their team for round two of the Allianz National Hurling League against Fermanagh this Sunday (February 12) at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph's Park, Ederney.

Former Galway Under 21 star Joe Mooney, whose mother hails from Belmullet, returns to the Mayo starting 15 at centre-forward and replaces Westport's Aaron Ketterick. Mooney was superb for Mayo last season and his addition at this stage of the league is a massive boost for the management team.

Dual star Jason Coyne from Ballyhaunis is another change from the side that drew with Roscommon last weekend, and he gets his first start of the season in place of Westport's Kealan Gallagher at corner-forward.

The Mayo defence is bolstered with the return of Ballyhaunis star Mark Phillips at wing-back, with Tooreen's Danial Huane also making a welcome return at midfield. Phillips replaces Moytura's Evan Heraty, with Huane coming in for Ballina Stephenites' Matthew Walsh.

Huane is the first Tooreen player to return to inter-county action following his club's success in reaching the AIB All-Ireland club intermediate hurling championship final last month.

Roscommon referee Matthew Farrell will officiate at the game on Sunday and Mayo GAA will have live updates across all social media platforms that afternoon.

The Mayo team in full is: Barry Lane (Castlebar Mitchels); James Lyons (Ballyhaunis), James Murphy (Moytura), Conor Murray (Castlebar Mitchels); Mark Phillips (Ballyhaunis), Danny Hill (Ballyhaunis), Luke Connor (Cashel Gaels); Daniel Huane (Tooreen), Cormac Phillips (Ballyhaunis); John Heraty (Moytura), Joe Mooney (Loughrea), Adrian Phillips (Ballyhaunis); Jason Coyne (Ballyhaunis), Michael Farrell (Ballyhaunis), Paddy Dozio (Cashel Gaels).
