Concerns raised over fault with new Mayo bridge

An elected member of Mayo County Council has raised concerns over what is transpiring at the new bridge on the Lodge Road in Westport.

Councillor Brendan Mulroy explained: "It is very clear two lorries can't pass each other at the underpass and it is unsafe for pedestrians who will have to walk under the bridge.

"I have been in contact with the council to find out from the relevant authority what plans are in place to rectify this situation.

"I express thanks to everyone that has contacted me on this matter and I will provide an update once I receive a response from the council executive."

The road in question is part of the new link leading from Westport to Fahy and there is a major haulage business located within close proximity to the bridge.
