Tributes to widely-popular Mayo GAA personality on his passing

The death has taken place of James (Jimmy) Nally, Bushfield, Hollymount.

Paying tribute to him, Garrymore GAA Club said Jimmy was a former club chairman and secretary as well as secretary of the South Mayo GAA Board.

"He was also a trustee of the club and was one of the driving forces behind all the development work that took place in the club over the years, including the building of the clubhouse.

"We extend their deepest sympathies to the Nally family on their loss," the tribute added.

A minute's silence was observed at last night's National Football League match between Mayo and Kerry at MacHale Park, Castlebar, as a mark of respect to him and other well-known Mayo GAA personalities who passed away in recent days.

Jimmy is deeply regretted by his loving wife Kathleen, son Gareth, daughter Claire, son-in-law Timothy, daughter-in-law Stephanie, grandchildren Harry, Ross, Grace and Roisìn, brothers Vincent and Michael, brother in law, sisters in law, nephews and nieces, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Kathleen, sister Carmel and baby brother John Noel.

Reposing at St. Colman’s Funeral Home, Lower James Street, Claremorris (F12 R3W8), on Monday from 6 o’clock with removal at 8 o’clock to The Church of The Immaculate Conception, Roundfort (F12 YV70).
