Issue of dangerous central Mayo junction raised again

THE Ardboley/Rathduff junction in Balla has been the scene of two serious accidents.

They have occurred since Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) carried out works at the location two years ago.

Councillor Blackie Gavin has asked for an update on the junction.

TII, he said, wanted the council to carry out a feasibility study. Is that going to be done, he asked at a meeting of Mayo County Council this week.

A public meeting is taking place in Balla community centre tonight (Wednesday), to which councillors have been invited, he added.

It is a highly dangerous junction, said Councillor Gavin.
