Mayo's Sarah Rowe signs for Bohemians
Sarah Rowe has joined Women’s National League side Bohemians from A-League Women’s football club Melbourne Victory ahead of the new SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division.
The 27-year-old, who is a native of Ballina and has played for AFLW side Collingwood for the last five seasons, is looking to make a late push for Vera Pauw's World Cup squad.
Rowe is no stranger to the sport, having played in two separate stints with Shelbourne FC, where she won the League and Cup double in 2016. She also lined out for Castlebar Celtic from 2012 to 2014 where she played in the 2013 and 2014 WNL Cup finals and the 2013 Women's Cup final.
In 2014, Rowe was a member of the Ballina Town team that won the WFAI Intermediate Cup.
She represented her country at underage level, perhaps most notably starring for the history-making Under 19s at the 2014 European Championships. She played alongside several members of Pauw’s current squad, including captain and close friend Katie McCabe, as Ireland reached the semi-finals.
Rowe has also been a part of the Mayo LGFA setup since her debut in 2012 but that appears to be on the back-burner for the time being as she continues her focus on soccer.
The WNL domestic season begins on Saturday, March 4.
