Mayo 8k fun run organisers thank museum for its loyal support
Mayo Mental Health Association has acknowledged and thanked the National Museum of Ireland (Turlough House) for their support towards the very successful Turlough 8K fun run.
A statement by the association outlined: "Our friendship and relationship now go back many years.
"Seamus O'Donnell and Frances Toner from the National Museum are always on hand to help in whichever way possible.
"With the recent sad passing of our chairperson P.J. Murphy we would like to acknowledge the respect shown to him on the day by holding a minute’s silence.
"I know this was very much appreciated by all connected to Mayo MHA.
"PJ had long been a supporter of the race and knew the importance of community spirit and challenging stigma through community partnerships and opening up conversation in a fun and meaningful way.
"Seamus O'Donnell’s kind words at the end of the ceremony highlighted this in the truest sense.
"It continues to be a thriving relationship for both organisations.
"Francis Toner, marketing executive for the Museum provides all the links between our Organisations and her support is very much appreciated.
"We are extremely grateful for the wonderful facilities and access to the beautiful grounds that make the whole experiences for families and participants so enjoyable.
"To have this facility on our doorstep and be accessible is brilliant.
"The response from our surrounding community this year has been fantastic with over 500 people attending the grounds on the day.
"We know we will have many more good years ahead of us. Thanks for ensuring the National Museum of Ireland be the best it could be for our event.
"None of the above would be possible without our many volunteers and supporters.
"We’d like to thank all the volunteers on the day such as Darren Flynn and all his Stewarts, Kevin Neary Lead Driver, Ambulance Service, Turlough Wheelers, Mayo AC Karen Flynn, Ann McDonald, Carmel Cloherty, Yvonne Kilcullen Events, John Cloherty Music, Adrian Gainley, Parke Keelogues Crimlin GAA, John Roddy Timing and staff of Mayo Mental Health Association.
"We thank the Turlough 8K committee of Frank Cloherty, Patrick and Niall Dunne and their team who put in an enormous amount of work over many months to ensure all runs smoothly on the day.
"All monies raised goes back into our communities supporting positive mental health."
