Cyclist seriously injured in incident at Mayo urban location

A cyclist has been seriously injured following an incident involving a car near Castlebar town centre last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Springfield in the town shortly after the incident occurred around 10 p.m

The cyclist was transferred to Mayo University Hospital by ambulance.

His condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.

The location has been cordoned off by gardaí for technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling along this route between 9:30 and 10:30 last night are asked to make this footage available.
