Multi-All Star award winning Mayo GAA ace joins Galway team as coach

Former Mayo ladies footballer and Australia FLW player Cora Staunton has joined Galway senior camogie squad's backroom team as a performance coach.

It's a real coup for the Galway side in view of her vast sporting experience.

An All-Star Award winner on 11 occasions, she won four All-Ireland and three National League titles with her native county.

Cora also captured six All-Ireland Ladies Club championship titles with Carnacon.

She has been starring with Greater Western Sydney in the AFLW since 2018, establishing herself by 2022 as one of the league's all-time great goalscorers.

She has also played soccer and rugby during her career.

Galway were beaten in the opening round of the 2023 league, losing out to Tipperary by 4-9 to 1-9.

However, the Tribeswomen bounced back in style in the second round, defeating Kilkenny by 1-17 to 1-13, played at Nowlan Park.
