Mayo Young Sports Stars: Twin sisters who dominated events in Mayo and beyond

Freya and Holly Renton, twin sisters and members of Westport Athletics Club, swept aside all before them in their dominance of cross-country events in Mayo and beyond, and it’s impossible not to talk about the success of one without the other, with both of them being such fantastic athletes.

In 2022, their achievements included the following: gold for Freya and silver for Holly in the Mayo Under 13 and Under 14 Cross Country Championships, gold for Freya and silver for Holly in the Connaught Under 13 and Under 14 Cross Country Championships, and gold for Freya and silver for Holly in the All-Ireland Under 13 and Under 14 Cross Country Championships.

No doubt there is plenty more to come.

They will receive their awards at The Connaught Telegraph Mayo Young Sports Stars of the Year 2022 ceremony this Friday in Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar.
