Nathan Reilly Doyle put in a number of big displays for Ballyheane throughout 2022.

Mayo Young Sports Stars: A striker with a knack for scoring on the big occasion

Young Ballyheane striker Nathan Reilly Doyle played a huge part in ensuring his club retained their Elverys Sports Super League title in 2022, and helped them win three trophies in the course of the year.

Last February saw the delayed Under 21 League Division 1 and Westaro Cup finals from the previous season played.

Nathan scored the opening goal as Ballyheane beat Conn Rangers in the Under 21 League Division 1 final before scoring a hat trick in a 6-1 victory over Ballina Town in a man of the match performance in the Westaro Cup final.

He chipped in with eight goals as Ballyheane retained their Super League title and was the star of the show in the Under 21 Cup final against Castlebar Celtic, scoring the winner in another man of the match display.

Clearly a man for the big occasion, Nathan will be presented with his Connaught Telegraph Young Sports Star of the Year award at the ceremony in Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar, tomorrow evening (Friday).
