Mayo Young Sports Stars: Swimmers show all opponents a clean pair of heels

Swimmers from Claremorris had a very successful year at Community Games events, winning eight individual and two sets of team squad medals.

That's all the more remarkable when you consider they were without their own pool for over two years and had to use other pools to remain in peak shape for competitions.

The Under 16 girls swim squad won gold in the 4 x 50m medley at the Community Games national fianls, with Amy Breslin, Meadhb Burke, Eabha Finnerty, Emma Heffernan, Cara Higgins and Aisling Rabbitte showing a clean pair of heels to the opposition.

Their club-mate, Eva Harte, also had a brilliant 2022, capturing gold in the girls Under 12 breaststroke in impressive style.

Eva joins the Under 16 team members in winning the swimming award at the 2022 Connaught Telegraph Young Sports Stars Awards. The presentations will be made tomorrow (Friday) at a ceremony in Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar.
