Knockmore-Foxford Boxing Club awards night is a resounding success
THE Knockmore/Foxford Boxing Club annual awards/presentation night was held on March 20 last in Foxford Sports & Leisure Centre.
Thirty boxers received awards, from the Youngest Member Award to the Best Boxer Award, on a memorable night.
Parents and family members attended and it was a hugely successful event overall.
Only one person from outside of the club has ever received a presentation from the club and on the night, popular local lady Deirdre Hardy was presented with an award of appreciation from the club.
Billy Rice, secretary of KFC, said in his presentation: “Deirdre is extremley helpful to the club, from making tea for visitors to helping out on the street with bucket collection when no one else is available. Any time the club request for help, her reply is 'Absolutley'.”
Other awards on the night included: Best Attendant, Best Newcomer, Most Dedicated, Most Courageous, Most Potential, Best Boxer, Most Active and Boxer of the Year.
Underage coach Joseph Hannon received an award from the underage boxers for his committment and dedication to the large underage membership of 25 boxers.
Billy Rice said during the speeches that only for Joseph there would be no underage boxers in training as the club had the main training session fully booked out.
