Tributes paid to Martin Keating as he departs Mayo council role

WARM tributes have been paid to the Mayo County Council’s head of environment as he steps away from the role.

Councillor Peter Flynn said Martin Keating had done a remarkable job over many decades and his contribution to the Westport Town Council when he was based there was hugely successful.

“Since you moved into the environment department, it has come on leaps and bounds,” said the councillor.

Councillor Martin McLoughlin thanked Mr. Keating for his years of dedication to the local authority and for the work he had done with climate in the council.

Mr. Keating thanked all councillors for their remarks.

He had worked for 32 years in Mayo County Council and he said he hoped he made a good contribution from his time as a town clerk in town councils to his current role.

He went on to thank his team and he was confident that it would continue to deliver to its high standards.
