€507,500 capital funding for Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim ETB

MAYO, Sligo and Leitrim ETB (MSLETB) have been approved €507,500 in capital funding.

The devolved capital grant will give Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim ETB the discretion to make decisions around small-scale further education and training investment priorities at a local level.

Deputy Michael Ring explained: “Using this grant, MSLETB will be able to carry out work such as upgrades to computer labs and science labs, replacement of apprenticeship equipment, roof works and planned improvement works of further education and training buildings.”

He continued: “I am very pleased that the government are acknowledging the great work of MSLETB and are continuing to provide this capital funding. The fund is at the discretion of the MSLETB meaning it can address its priorities at a local level for delivery. The funding will be distributed through SOLAS.”

Deputy Alan Dillon said the National Development Plan, part of Project Ireland 2040, provided a dedicated capital envelope for the further education and training sector. The devolved capital allocation allows education and training boards to respond to the most pressing capital needs within their respective regions.

“MSLETB can prioritise maintenance and upgrading works across their existing capital stock, ensuring value for money while enhancing their learning environment,” he explained in welcoming the funding.
