Calls for Ballindine estate to be taken over by Mayo County Council
REPRESENTATIONS have again been made to Mayo County Council to take over the Ard Lugalisheen estate in Ballindine.
Councillor Richard Finn brought the matter to attention by way of a notice of motion at a local municipal district meeting.
Senior engineer Conrad Harley said the council's planning enforcement section have engaged with the owners of the development with the intention of getting the estate taken in charge.
They are awaiting a report on the condition of the water services within the estate.
The derelict sites at the entrance of the estate have been brought to the attention of the derelict sites team who are perusing the issue with the relevant owners.
Councillor Finn said he accepted this was not something that can be done overnight, but the estate cannot be left as it is.
He has had numerous representations from people living there.
Councillor Patsy O'Brien said there is an odour issue and Irish Water have stated that they cannot do anything about it unless the council takes the estate over.
All members supported the motion.
