Tyrone claim Very Camogie League Division 4 title at Mayo's expense

Tyrone got the better of Mayo in the Very Camogie League Division 4 final this afternoon, winning by 0-18 to 2-9 in Joe Fox Memorial Park, Tang, Co. Westmeath.

Success for the Red Hand county was built on the point-scoring abilities of Lara Devlin, Roisín McErlean and Casey Gallagher, while first-half goals from Ava Lambert and Hannah Tener kept Mayo in the hunt.

The sides were level on numerous occasions during the course of the game but Tyrone finished strongly to eke out the win.

The sides were level at the break – 2-6 to 0-12 – after a free-flowing half of camogie.

Scores were more difficult to come by after the turnaround, especially during the third quarter, and it will sting Mayo that they couldn't make better use of the wind in that second period.

Tyrone, who had beaten Mayo narrowly in the group phase of the league, tightened up in defence and they hung on to secure victory, with Devlin awarded the player of the match award for her overall display.
