North Mayo traffic restrictions and diversions for Biden visit

AHEAD of tomorrow's visit of President Joe Biden to north Mayo, members of the public are advised that local traffic restrictions and diversions will be in effect on approach routes as well as in and around Ballina from 10 a.m. Friday.

Foxford/Crossmolina to Killala:

From Foxford (N26), approach the traffic lights at the Font and turn left out Lord Edward Street. Continue out the Crossmolina Road to Gurteens roundabout. Take the third exit onto the Old Crossmolina Road. Turn left at St Patrick’s Church and travel down Sli Ectra turning left at the junction with the Killala Rd (R314).

From Crossmolina (N59), approach Gurteens roundabout and take the second exit onto the Old Crossmolina Road. Turn left at St Patrick’s Church and travel down Sli Ectra turning left at the junction with the Killala Rd (R314).

Foxford to Crossmolina:

Route is unaffected.

Killala to Foxford:

From Killala (R319) approaching Ballina, turn right up Sli Ectra. Continue up Sli Ectra turning right at St Patrick’s Church. Continue out the Old Crossmolina Road towards Gurteens Roundabout. Take the first exit and continue in the Crossmolina Road towards Lord Edward Street. Turn right at the Font onto the N26.

Ballina to Sligo:

N26 to Foxford continue to Swinford, at Swinford take N5 to Charlestown, at Charlestown take N17 to Sligo via Tubbercurry.

Sligo to Ballina town, Crossmolina (as normal if going east side of bridges).

Sligo to Tubbercurry and Charlestown on N17, at Charlestown take N5 for Swinford continue on N5 and at Swinford take N26 for Foxford/Ballina.

Enniscrone to Crossmolina:

From Sligo (N59) approaching Ballina, turn left up Bunree Road turning right at T junction onto Healy Terrace, continue on Healy Terrace turning left onto Church road (signposted Attymass) continue on Church road until it meets N26 – turn right for Foxford/Ballina.

Crossmolina to Enniscrone:

Ballina take N26 to Foxford, in Foxford travel towards Swinford until road on left signposted Attymass, turn left and travel on this road until Ballina, turn right onto Healy Terrace, continue on Healy Terrace, take the left onto Bunree Road Signposted Sligo, continue on Bunree Road until T Junction turn right onto N59 signposted Sligo.

Persons attending the event are requested to use shuttle busses provided on each route into the town as there will be no parking provided in Ballina town.
