Progress on reopening Mayo bar and restaurant closed for five years

Progress is being made on reopening Bosh Bar and Restaurant, Linenhall Street, Castlebar, which has been closed for five years this month.

The property was purchased late last year by Joe O'Malley, proprietor of Cosy Joe's Bar and the Porter House in Westport.

Now Mr. O'Malley has applied to Mayo County Council for permission to carry out alterations to the existing Bosh Bar premises.

They include international modifications to the existing smoking areas and relocation of storage areas, together with ancillary sites works.

The plans have been submitted to the authority by Keith O'Connell Engineer, Westport.

The premises extends to approximately 3,800 square feet over three floors and also has a large outdoor beer garden.

Michael and Mary McDonnell, Castlebar, were proprietors of the premises for 14 years before its closure in April 2018 due to spiralling insurance costs.
