Top golf society in Mayo back out on the local fairways
TOLSTER'S Golf Society is back, and all members and guests travelled a short distance to Castlebar Golf Club to start the season.
The format was a scramble which was aimed at bringing back the society members for a fun day on the course. As per usual, Castlebar Golf Club was in fantastic condition and all golfers enjoyed a great day's golf.
Back in Tolster's Bar, after the event the new committee said a huge 'thank you' to all players who turned out for the three ball scramble to start the year. There was a brilliant turnout and it gave a real boost to the popular society.
In the prizes, taking first place home with a great score of 70 (-2) was the team of Ray Walsh, Liam Deasy and J.P. Parson ahead of Richie Feeney, Liam Conroy and John Queeney in second place and Paddy Grogan, Cliff Liverpool and Sean Mangan in third.
The committee thanked Tom Duffy for sponsoring the day out and offered massive congratulations to John Cafferkey, who won Player of the Year 2022. John had an amazing year's golf in Tolster's Golf Society in 2022 and was a well-deserved winner. Many thanks to Austin Quinn who, like every year, sponsored the Player of the Year award.
Tolster's Golf Society has stood the test of time and is still the most renowned society in the area. It's always open for guests and new members. Should you wish to join the society or play as a guest in any of the outings this year, simply enquire at Tolster's Bar on Spencer Street in Castlebar.
The next outing for the society is to Castlebar Golf Club on April 20. Tee times start at 11.30 a.m.
