Minister asked to sign off on north Mayo flood scheme

PRESSURE is to be applied on the Minister for Public Expenditure to sign off on the Crossmolina flood relief scheme. It had been held up with other projects following a judicial review in relation to a similar scheme in Cork, with fears that it too could face legal challenges.

Councillor Michael Loftus said Crossmolina has been suffering for eight years now.

Speaking at a meeting of Mayo County Council, he asked the local authority to write to Minister Pascal Donohue in relation to it.

He was told the council will keep the pressure on the minister to sign the scheme.
