Mayo TD welcomes progress on Lissaniska school extension

MINISTER of State Dara Calleary has welcomed progress in the proposed extension project for Bunscoil Naomh Bríd agus Naomh Pádraig, Lissaniska.

The minister set out: “I am pleased to report that progress has been made in the proposed development of a substantial extension at Lissaniska National School, Foxford. Civil structural engineering, architectural services, building services engineering and quantity surveying services tenders have now been assessed and awarded.”

This is a 'very substantial' extension for the school and includes one classroom with a WC, a user-assisted toilet/shower, a two classroom SEN base, secure hard and soft play area, a sensory garden, and six parking spaces.

Said Minister Calleary: “I am delighted to have secured this investment from the Department of Education and look forward to the project commencing in the medium-term. It will add immensely to the educational offering at the school and I want to congratulate school principal Aisling Hopkins, her staff and board of management for their commitment to the project.”
