Ireland West Airport announces charity partners for 2023

IRELAND West Airport has announce that Breakthrough Cancer Research, Diabetes Ireland, the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the Children’s Cancer Fund, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and the Mayo Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals have been selected by airport staff as its charity partners for 2023.

The airport is extending its charity partners from three to six in 2023 in recognition of the fantastic work these charities do at both a local and national level.

Several events will take place during the course of 2023 which will engage passengers and staff with the aim of raising as much money as possible for the charity partners. The headline event will once again be the annual 5k runway fun run which will take place on the runway at Ireland West Airport in September, with full details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Launching the charities of the year programme, Joe Gilmore, managing director, Ireland West Airport, said: “Last year the airport were delighted to relaunch our charities of the year programme and were thrilled to raise a record €42,500 for our three charity partners, Childhood Cancer Ireland, Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust and the Sensational Kids Charity, and in turn supporting the fantastic work that these charities all undertake, which really does make such a difference to the people that they support in our community.

“I am very proud of the continued support and commitment of our own staff in raising significant money for their nominated charities every year and we look forward to another successful year working with our six new charities in 2023.”

The programme has to date raised almost €200,000 for Irish charities and in 2023 the airport looks forward to raising much needed funds for its six new charities, who all undertake such fantastic work in our communities.

A date for the hugely popular runway run will be finalised in the coming weeks and the airport hopes to welcome a big crowd for what is always a lovely family event.
