The junction at Market Square, leaving the credit union car park. Councillor Ger Deere wants the traffic/pedestrian situation at the location examined.

'Spagetti juntion' in Mayo county town needs to be reviewed

THE tangled roads situation at Market Square in Castlebar came up for discussion at the monthly municipal district meeting.

Referring to it as a 'spaghetti junction', Councillor Ger Deere said three people were knocked down at the location in the last year.

He commented on the chaos as you come out of the credit union car park with cars coming in from the Newport Road, more coming down from Sports Direct, and them turning and coming around.

It is hard for pedestrians, with no crossing as you leave the car park and go towards Market Square.

Traffic is coming every way and the location needs to be looked at, he said.
