Castlebar Celtic reach Connacht Cup final with big victory in Galway

Castlebar Celtic are in with a great chance to capture their 10th Connacht Cup title.

They secured their place in the 2022/23 decider with a superb 4-0 semi-final victory away to Mervue United this afternoon.

Celtic took the lead in the first half through Jordan Loftus and kicked on after the break with further goals from Jason Hunt, Ioseph O'Reilly and Neil Douglas.

Standing between Celtic and their 10th Connacht Cup success are Athenry, who won through to the decider with a 1-0 victory away to Strand Celtic yesterday afternoon, the only goal of the game – scored by Cole Connolly – coming in the early stages.

The final will be played later this month.
