Man arrested during investigation into Mayo woman's death
A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the death of woman, a native of Keenagh, Crossmolina, which occurred in Sligo.
Angela Canavan (née Walsh) was found dead in her home at St. John’s Terrace, Sligo, last Monday night.
Earlier today gardai arrested the man on suspicion of murder.
He is currently being questioned at a garda station in the north-western region under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Gardai are not disclosing the results of a post-mortem examination for what they describe as ‘operational reasons’.
Investigations are ongoing.
Ms. Canavan, who was in her fifties, was a native of Tubridge, Keenagh, Crossmolina.
Large numbers of mourners attended her Requiem Mass yesterday morning in St. Tiernan’s Church, Crossmolina.
Her remains will be cremated at a later date.
