Special event to mark 150 years of railway in north Mayo

IARNRÓD Éireann and the people of Ballina will celebrate 150 years since the railway arrived in Ballina on Friday, May 19, with a special event at the local train station.

Historical photos will be on display and a specially commissioned plaque will be unveiled by local station manager Matthew Garrett and the customer experience manager for the area, Derrick Curran.

There will be live music from local musicians and face painting for the children.

The May 19 celebrations will commence at Ballina Train Station at 2 p.m. and all are welcome.
