Appointment to Mayo's Aughaval Group of Parishes
A NEW appointment to the Aughaval Group of Parishes has been confirmed by Bishop Michael Burrows of the Dioceses of Tuam, Limerick and Killaloe.
Rev. Suzanne Cousins, who currently serves in Benburb in Co. Tyrone, is to be the incumbent of the group - Holy Trinity Church, Westport, Christ Church, Castlebar, Turlough Parish Church and St. Thomas’, Dugort, on Achill Island.
The Institution of Rev. Cousins to the Aughaval Group will take place on Friday, July 7, at Holy Trinity Church, Westport.
She is married to Alan and the couple have three adult children.
Suzanne’s background is education, having worked as a primary school teacher and for several years as a special educational needs classroom assistant while studying theology and preparing for training for ordained ministry.
She said following her appointment: “While I will miss the wonderful people of my present parishes, I am delighted and thankful for the opportunity to serve God in this beautiful part of coastal Ireland and in the Diocese of Tuam, Limerick and Killaloe.
“Alan and I look forward with excitement and joy to getting to know and working with the people, parishes and places of Westport, Castlebar, Turlough and Dugort (Achill).”
