Mayo's Dayna Finn wins basketball player of the year accolade

Irish international basketball player Dayna Finn has been named Women's Standout Irish Player of the Year at the BIW Fan Awards 2023.

The Kiltimagh girl will soon be taking up a new challenge next month as she heads to Australia to join Carlton FC in the AFL Women's competition.

However, it was for her contribution to Trinity Meteors that Dayna has been honoured with the award as the Women’s Standout Irish Player of the Year.

Dayna played international basketball for Ireland at Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20 level, and is currently a member of the Irish senior women’s team.

She also played senior football for Mayo but her involvement last year was curtailed due to her commitment to basketball and to her studies at Trinity College, where she has completed her Masters.
