Mayo star nominated for GAA Player of the Week
After an impressive performance against Kerry in Killarney on Saturday, Aidan O’Shea has been nominated for Player of the Week.
The Breaffy club man has been deployed at full-forward this season and there has been a marked change in Mayo’s attacking outlet.
Additionally, three of Kevin McStay’s players who starred in that game in the Kingdom have made it onto the team of the week.
Matthew Ruane of Breaffy is selected in the centre of the field, while Aidan O’Shea and James Carr (Ardagh) are named in the full-forward line.
A fitting testament to the skill shown in the attacking third by Mayo as both O’Shea and Carr registered 3 points each in the 5-point win in Fitzgerald Stadium.
While Matthew Ruane was back to his best, covering every blade of grass on the pitch and wreaking havoc with his direct running.
Aidan O’Shea will look to build on his current form in over a week’s time as Mayo play Louth in MacHale Park.
Galway's Paul Conroy and Donegal's Oisín Gallen are this week's other nominees for GAA.ie Footballer of the Week.
The voting process is simple, just like their image on the GAA's official Instagram page.
Voting will close at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, and the winner will be announced on GAA.ie.
