Preparing local road repairs list following N5 Mayo works

A LIST of roads in the Castlebar area that require repair following the N5 project is to be prepared for the contractor.

Mayo County Council met with the contractor in the past week and local councillors have been asked to make known roads they are concerned about.

One of those that got an airing at a Castlebar Municipal District meeting was the Cloggernagh East road.

Councillor Ger Deere said a section at an underpass, which services land and a house with no car, was asphalted. Yet up the road, where there are a number of houses, was 'brutal' and was left in that state.

The road had been used as a service road for the N5 and something has to be done with it, he told management.

The underpass Councillor Deere spoke about at the meeting.

Councillor Blackie Gavin agreed that the whole road should have been done.

Annagh Road was another one raised by Councillor Cyril Burke.

The question of a previously requested audit was raised by Councillor Martin McLoughlin.

Members were told a list will be brought to the contractor, if they had concerns about roads they felt had been impacted.

The contractor will measure the condition of the road based on a survey they conducted before the N5 started.
