Northern relief road needed to future-proof Mayo's county town

A NORTHERN outer relief road of Castlebar needs to be considered.

The town needs to be future-proofed, Councillor Martin McLoughlin told a municipal district meeting.

There was a plan previously but that is now obsolete, given the way the town has grown, said Councillor McLoughlin.

He had asked that Mayo County Council would consider a northern relief road and that planners would look to see what might be possible.

The councillor requested an update, saying it is badly needed.

They had to future-proof the town and plan ahead, he stated.
