McVerry Trust's residential plans for vacant Castlebar property approved

THE Peter McVerry Trust is progressing its plans to develop six residential units in Castlebar town.

The Trust has been granted planning permission for a change of use from office to residential use and an extension to a property at Ellison Street in the town, providing six single bedroom units.

The initial application was for eight units.

The development will provide housing for people supported by the charity and will not be for private sale.

There are two retail units on ground floor level - the Irish Cancer Society shop and tattoo shop - which are not part of the application.

No third party objections were received by Mayo County Council in respect of the trust's plans.
