Nice words about the Mayo Gaeltacht village of Tourmakeady

by Auld Stock

A WRITER in The Mail on Sunday had some nice things to say about Tourmakeady.

Some of his words read as follows: "The magnificent views surrounding this small town are considered to be on a par with those on the Ring of Kerry.

"Take a stroll through Tourmakeady to the waterfall, take in a spot of fishing on Lough Mask or enjoy the splendid fare at Paddy’s thatched pub overlooking the water."

Fine words indeed about Tourmakeady, and well deserved.

I am sure my former colleague, Michael John Casey, Carheen, will welcome the fact the writer raised the status of Tourmakeady to that of a town.

Michael John has played a leading role in the production of Tourmakeady Christmas magazine for many years, a proud son of his native area, always to the forefront in everything that is good for the locality.
