Ready for the challenge. . . Aidan O'Shea, Conor Meyler and Shane Walsh

Portwest GAA Job swap challenge starring Mayo's Aidan O'Shea

An exciting pre-cursor to this weekend’s packed football schedule see three GAA All Stars swap the sod for the site in the Portwest GAA Job Swap Challenge.

Aidan O’Shea explained: "It’s been kind of a strange season for everybody with this new championship structure… but hopefully we’ll continue the momentum this season.’"

Well, there is nothing strange about the fierce rivalry between Galway and Mayo.

As competitive off the pitch as on, Aidan races Galway star Shane Walsh to the finish in this unprecedented showdown.

Tyrone’s Conor Meyler is also contesting and just like the new GAA format, anything can happen, and anyone can come out on top.

Rachel Davoren, managing director of Portwest Ireland, stated: "These players are experts in their field when it comes to GAA, but we really wanted to take them out of their comfort zone, and show what it takes to try a new skill in a strange environment.

"There is a fun element watching the players tackle old opponents in the new setting of the construction site, and the challenges show how hard it is to learn a new trade as an apprentice and we think they managed it brilliantly.’

"Who will emerge as the winner as they compete for the highly coveted title of the Portwest GAA Job Swap Challenge champion?

Hosted by Michael D McAndrew of Midwest Radio and under the watchful eye of Mick the builder from Westburg Builders, these exceptional athletes will highlight their versatility, determination, and skills across each challenge.

Part one of four with new episodes released weekly across the GAA senior football championship. Further press release and information to follow next week.

Challenge 1: The Saw Doctors (Released earlier tonight on Instagram )

The hand-eye coordination of our GAA stars is put to the ultimate test.

In this challenge, each competitor must deftly saw through three wooden planks in a perfectly straight line.

Points are awarded based on the accuracy and precision of their cuts with the winner the person who can finish first.

Speaking after the challenge Galway GAA star Shane Walsh said: “Dad always slags me when using a saw. He saw me use a saw before and just started laughing and he never even gave pointers.”

Who will be laughing when the dust settles after this exciting challenge.
