League of Ireland football is coming to Mayo

The Mayo Football League are set to form a club for the League of Ireland for the first time in the history of the county.

The exciting news of Mayo F.C.'s creation was announced this morning.

The launch of the newly formed team takes place next Monday, June 26, when members involved from the Mayo League will host a press conference in the Breaffy House Hotel.

The positive news is coming on the foot of Mayo under 21s competing at the national level for the first time ever this summer, they have friendly games vs Galway United and Shamrock Rovers coming up next month.

Kerry F.C. has been the latest addition to the LOI and now Mayo could see senior competition in 2026.

Also, the fact the Mayo League owns Milebush makes the formation of a club in the county a lot easier.
