Mayo county town mourns passing of popular barman

The death has taken place of Michael Kilcoyne, Fr. Meehan place, Castlebar, and formerly of Ringarraun, Ballyheane.

He died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home yesterday and the news evoked an immense sense of loss in the community.

Michael was a popular member of the bar staff at Coady's, Linenhall Street, Castlebar.

Many warm tributes are being paid to him on social media where he was described as "a lovely, kind and caring man."

Predeceased by his parents Johnny and Mary Joe, he is deeply regretted by his loving partner Margaret, son Michael, daughters, stepchildren Tracey, Keith and Francis, brothers Fr. John SMA (Tanzania) and Pat (Ballyheane), sisters Ann O'Brien (Robeen) and Kathleen Walsh (Ballymacrath), his adored grandchildren, aunt Kathleen Davoren, uncle Frank Moran, son-in-law Darren, daughters-in -law Rachael and Kristin, brother-in-law, sister- in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

His remains will be reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to his home.

Removal from his home on Tuesday at 10.15 a.m. to St Patrick's Church, Ballyheane, for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m.

Afterwards, the funeral proceeds to Shannon Crematorium (via Balla for a brief pause) for Committal Service at 3 p.m.
