Four more headline acts added to BallaghDream Arts Fest line-up

FOUR further headline events have been added to the already stellar line-up for the inaugural BallaghDream Arts Fest, which runs from August 5 to 13 in Ballaghaderreen.

Star of 2000s British sitcom The Inbetweeners, Joe Thomas, who played ‘Simon’ in the show, joins the festival programme for a one-off stand-up comedy show on Sunday, August 13. Up and coming Galway comedian Ian Burke will be the opening act for the show at Edmondstown House, Ballaghaderreen.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 9, Shane Casey, familiar to our TV screens for his role as ‘Billy Murphy’ in the RTÉ comedy The Young Offenders, brings his resilience and wellbeing workshop to Ballaghaderreen Family Resource Centre. This free workshop is aimed at teenagers and young adults, and uses elements of performance, role play and theatre games to allow participants look at how to make the right choices in life and to care for their own wellbeing.

Following the huge success of his one man show The Man in the Woman’s Shoes, which he performed at the festival’s taster event in April this year, Mikel Murfi returns to perform the sequel to that show, entitled I Hear You and Rejoice, on Sunday, August 6, in St. Nathy’s College.

And theatre, opera and music enthusiast Jim Ryan appears at the festival with his show Honey of a Song, as he takes us on a glorious journey through some of the world’s greatest recordings, duets and arias.

In this very relaxed show, Jim will play recordings of various artists of the recording era from John McCormack to Luciano Pavarotti and beyond, interspersed with chats about the recordings and the artists that he loves. The show will take place in Durkin’s on Thursday, August 10.
